(Online) The Harlem Art Explosion: From Innovation to Mainstream

(Online) The Harlem Art Explosion: From Innovation to Mainstream Online

During the Harlem Renaissance of the early 20th century, the Harlem neighborhood in New York City became a Black cultural mecca and a social & artistic explosion resulted. We will look at three artists who were working at the height of this time: William H. Johnson, Romaire Bearden, and Jacob Lawrence. It was a literary, artistic, and intellectual movement that kindled a new black cultural identity, and encouraged a new appreciation of folk roots and culture. Join us on Zoom for an exploration of this pillar of American culture.

Done in Collaboration with the Greenburgh, Yonkers Will, Dobbs Ferry, and Pound Ridge Libraries.
